All I want to do is dance!

Dance class started this week.  It is a huge hit!  I have never seen R take anything so seriously and also have so much fun.  Here she is with her buddies on week one.

Having more fun.

We have had a couple of soccer games now and let's just say her team, the Pink Sparkles (gag), are not exactly dominating.  R has been steadily improving, though.  Last week she actually sat down on the field in the middle of the game because she did not want to play.  But this week, she ran around a lot more (not necessarily to the ball, but hey- baby steps) and seemed to have more fun.  We brought donuts this week too, so maybe that helped as well :-)  Meanwhile, the other teams we play each week seem to have at least one or two soccer prodigies.  Where are these 4 year olds training??!  Sheesh!

Lil Mia Hamm

R had her first ever soccer match last Saturday.  She wasn't exactly Lil Mia Hamm, but she did score a goal!  Okay, so she dribbled the ball down the field all the way to the goal line and waited for everyone to celebrate.  The ref never considered it over the goal line, but my goodness, CLOSE ENOUGH!  I was afraid we were going to have a hard time getting her excited about soccer but her uniform is pink and her team is called the Sparkles so that seems to be helping.  Oh, and Grandma T came to cheer her on which made her very happy.

Gymnastics

Yesterday marked R's second gymnastics class.  She did great.  Last week (her first) she was a little bit shy, but this week she was all out.  There are about 5 little girls in this class and this week they did balance beam, spring board and bounced on the trampoline into the pit.  I think she is going to love this.  Of course, I didn't see everything she did because T was with me and pooped in his pants TWICE!  I am starting to think this is his way of protesting R beginning sports while he is still on the sidelines.  Your point has been made little man.

In the beginning...

So, I was on a business trip this week and mentioned to a co-worker that my daughter (and my oldest child) had her first ever soccer practice this week.  He, having three grown children, told me that I had a wonderful opportunity to capture all the memories now by starting a journal from the very beginning of my children's sports careers.  Not having any idea if either R or T will be interested in sports, I decided to give it a try and see what happens.  I have never journaled before, much less blogged, but let's see where this goes.  My goal is to report on actual games, not practices, but since yesterday was R's first ever practice, I have to mention that my dear husband took both R and T and reported back that R was not at all interested and T peed his pants.  Things can only go up from here.
